Cancer Pain Overview

Cancer pain is commonly caused by the tumor pressing on bones, nerves, or other organs, as well as from the side effects of treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. Cancer pain can be divided into two broad categories: acute and chronic pain. Acute pain happens suddenly, often as a result of cancer treatments or complications, while chronic pain develops gradually and persists over time due to the ongoing presence of cancer. Examples of acute pain include pain from surgery or chemotherapy, while common chronic pains are persistent bone pain and nerve pain.
